Hmmm, Guioco Rotto, I've had a few of those

Never put too much faith in google translator :) In a chess-related context, busted is certainly not translated as "rotto" (which equates to "broken").

I'm not sure about an exact equivalent of busted. In my mind i translate it as "spacciato", as in "il nero è spacciato" ("black is busted"). Spacciato more or less means "hopeless".

Thank you Bresando, could you help us with the other terms also?

Quite like "il nero e spacciato"

My understanding is piano most closely means "quiet" or "soft" in English.

I play piano and it means "quiet" or "soft".

I just pronounce it as if it was Guoco?

Best like GIOCCO

OK, no that's settled, how do you pronounce the piano bit?

Cearly not like the musical instrument, maybe pee-ah-no. or peeyahno?

I think it also bears mentioning that "piano" is probably not pronounced like a piano the instrument.  It would be "PEE-ah-no" if it's the Spanish pronunciation.
