Queen Placement

Hello! In general, is it more useful for the queen to be positioned on the same colored squares as one's pawns, or on the opposite colored squares. I know that bishops usually but not always are better on the opposite colored squares and was wondering if the principle might apply partially to the queen since she can also move diagonally. I am asking this question because I often have trouble deciding whether to play Qc2, Qd2, or Qe2 as white in opening. I generally play king's and queen's pawn openings- how would the situation change for each, in general of course, as individual positions can vary greatly.

Well personally I love my Bd3 Qc2 when I'm rocking the strong pawn center from d4 c4 and preparing to open up on the king. In general though I'm usually thinking about planting the queen on a square where she'll have an impact and not become a target quickly. But these are only the musings of a flawed chess player

I believe pawn color or diagonal color is irrelevant to the queen placement in general. What *is* relevant is the opening position and/or the color of the bishop the queen is backing up, or which file the queen is covering. Some examples of typical queen placement for White per opening: Colle System Qc2, Ruy Lopez Qe2, Caro-Kann Qb3, Yugoslav Attack Qd2, Exchange French Qxd3. No real pattern.
