e4 is a good opening but aliens basically solved chess....and the solution starts with d4......
Here you can see for yourself how it was revealed to the first human being...
(R2 is also a good move but only alien chess boards have that)

It always loses... except when it wins... or when there's a draw sometimes too. I think that about covers it.
I doubt it. Some such debates never end.

shouldn't this be P2 D4? your first move can't be R2 D4, there are pawns in the way and it is on the wrong rank (or file, i suppose).
Yeeha! I didn't think ANYONE with even half a brain would give my retarded comment the slightest second thought.
I presume we all have full sized brains, and we're using them to logically dismiss your idea in a matter of seconds.
But ok, if you're being serious, here is the problem in your logic: although technically d4 doesn't open quite as many diagonals, opening diagonals is in fact not the only strategy in chess; white knows he can complement his d4 pawn very safely with c2-c4, and this puts black under serious pressure to make sure he can either have healthy control of a central foothold, most notably with a pawn on d5 well supported (though even with that his pawn formation tends to be a bit more passive early on), or can flexibly develop his pieces and pawns in a more hypermodern style and aim to strike back at white's pawn center when he forms it later.
Comparing this to e4, supporting an e4 pawn with f4 is admittedly not uncommon, but it doesn't make up a whole lot of main lines and that is because it's risky with the weaknesses it creates, and the fact that it often needs to be played as a sacrifice. This gives both black and white chances, but on the other hand c4 can in no way be questioned: it's perfectly safe.
With the queen pawn strategy if white can win the center, trust me he'll have plenty of open lines. How can e4 be so much better when black can even do the same with ...e5? No, I'm not saying d4 is better, I'm saying both strategies are roughly equal in merit and that it's unwise to criticize a move based on such shallow factors like opening like one more piece (even though d4 still opens plenty of lines and gains plenty of space).

Thanks for pointing that out. Yes R2 D4 actually means PAWN TO D4 because remember that in intergalactica PAWN is actually spelled RAWN, which makes just as much sense as this post...
R: "GO AND TELL THE EARTHLINGS THAT THE ANSWER TO CHESS STARTS WITH RAWN TO D4"
E: "SO WHAT DOES RAWN STANDS FOR?"
R: "RAWN IS RAWN STUPID, THE SAME AS PAWN"
E: "SO WHAT COMES AFTER D4?"
R: "AFTER THAT BLACK SHOULD RESIGN AS THERE IS NO SATISFYING ANSWER TO D4"
I give people of world more gredit than that, because every country has a few people among them, no doubt, that cause them to wonder also if only half of the brain is being used.
Oh, by the way, spinky62, where did you obtain that information that the chicken came first, or is your troll hungry?
I find myself losing a lot when I use that opening. Doesn't mean its a bad opening just I have a lot to learn.
Then there is also the D4 glue. You can use it to plak your pawn on the d4 square - then it will stand strong in the centre and can never be removed by your opponent - they call it the FIXED D4 PAWN ATTACK. This will give you the space and the initiative to win.....

We can have FIXED E4 ATTACK AND FIXED C4 also.
Fixed e4 attack
Fixed c4
There could be other variations like the "glue-fixed Kings" variation, and "glue-fixed queens" variation. Easy wins guaranteed!
Later there could be "rook - n - roll in glue" fixed lines too !!!
This forum post reveals so many interesting things that I dont even think the world champions know about it.....
(maybe it is better that they dont know about it...)
But my eyes now open to the new horizons of the chessboard....and I see better now.....through the mist....
the rooks that stands in the opposite corners....
and it now becomes clearer to me that if you make a stupid statement you must expect stupid replies....
Well about half of you got into the spirit of my post, basicly you gotta have fun with chess, (or at least talking about it). It is a game isn't it? Hey, tonydal, your undies must be too tight or something (and you DID acknowledge my dopey ass no matter how "barely").
Now here's a legit question: One can theoreticly have 9 queens; but is it actually possible (without mating the other king)?

yes, it is possible as long as both players really want it to happen. but it is very unlikely it will ever happen in any real sense.

Somehow I didn't get that as the spirit of your post. It was more like looking for a reason as shallow and vague as possible to use as an excuse to give the finger to every d4 player. Well, it was a hilarious joke, so thank you.
Elubas, I would never think of flipping off any one who played chess, it is too good of a game for that. But face it; I got them talking. (All except tonydal who thinks he is some sort of prima donna, or somehting, and won't get into the fun, you-uu acknowleged me, you-uu acknowledged me, you-uu acknowkedged me, ha ha I win)

Tautologies are always fun. I should go make car commercials.
