e4 for attacking players
d4 for positional players
I think this sums it all up.
I am personally an e4 player (king's gambit if they play 1... e5).
Generally, as I explained in an other post, the principal (Q,B)-opening which is 1.e4 in the standard chess, is the "best" move. However, 1.d4 prevents black to make their own (Q,B)-opening, frees the way to 1 of bishops and partially to the queen. That's why it's as good as 1.e4, it's very logical.
Thank you from La belle Russe. Yigor; Parli Italiano? O, invece un poco francese? Un peau francais? Non mi parlo de russe, ma mi piace la lingua.
Well, I not saying d4 gaurentee losses, but d4 games are just plain boring and if black respond with d5 game with no live and almost always lead to draw.top level people play d4 when they scared to lose. If you love chess and play for win, play e4

Ciao amico! Si, parlo italiano e anche francese.
"Un peau francais?"
... a French skin?
He wanted to say "un peu français" = "a bit French".

Oui, je sais... Je voulais seulement me moquer de lui.

Sorry, had to do it. I'm a compulsive corrector.
I used to be a compulsive corrector, but it was damaging my friendship with others. I still have some problems with it. I like to help others, but unwanted advice is never welcomed. It is a difficult fault to eliminate. I now try to limit my advice to only when others ask for advice. I guess I'm a natural born teacher, because teaching runs in my family tree. But attempting to teach others by their mistakes just doesn't work. No one likes to have their mistakes or faults pointed out to them.
Did you just... correct me?
... just kidding.
