On another site whose name I will not mention, the move 2. b3 is the seventh most common reply to the French Defense among players rated 2000+ in Blitz or longer time controls. It results in 52% white wins, 42% black wins (guess the draw percentage). Sounds playable to me.
Change the filter to 2200+ and now 2. b3 is the fifth most common reply, with 52% white wins, 41% black wins.
