SUPERGOAL! Break 1800 USCF - qualify to WYCC 2016?

i don't have a chess coach
my main weakness, i'd say, is my time management. i used to play superfast a few months ago but lately i get into time pressure every single game (and i'm not good at all at handling time scrambles, like I don't have the ability to make reasonable moves in 5 sec.)

Practising tactics (tactics trainer) will help your time scrambles. Also a book like 1001 tactics or whatever it is called by Fred Reinfeld. Tactics win matches!
Also learn the basic rook endings, because they will come up very often in your tournament games. Lucena's, Philidor's, Marshall-Lasker endgame, and many others. A good book for this would be Capablanca's "Chess Fundamentals".
Once you have those things, 1800 will be a breeze, good luck!

You wont have any trouble getting over 1800. You're already there pretty much. Engames, tactics, pawn structures. Those 3. Not too much blitz! Not much at all. If you devote a lot of attention to those 3 things you'll go way past 1800 by next summer especially given that you've spent a year in tournaments & are in the mid 1600's. 150-200 points in 8 months is very likely at your level & age. Shoot for 2000 instead, that way if you fall short you'll make your original goal easily.
how do u know, u haven't seen my games

oh, so anyone can play? okay, whatever. its still cool 2 b a qualified representative on the uschess website tho
I looked at some of your games and I have a suggestion. Stop going of half-cocked. Finish your development before you try to attack, especially when you're black. Also, work on tactics and you'll stop dropping so much material. That will get you a long way toward 1800. I've heard from other A players that the difference between someone over 1800 and someone under 1800 is that over 1800 players don't drop pieces.

um, that's only in blitz. I've only played blitz games on here so far, and I suck at blitz. I don't really drop pieces in my actual tournament games. (dropping pieces - nah that's more like the difference between non-class (Class E and below?) players and class D players.)
my blitz is way worse than my standard chess, and u cant take those games as examples of my play. in other words,i have 2 show u my tournament games in order 4 u to actually see my strengths + weaknesses

Nobody 1400+ should be dropping pieces for no reason. There's a difference between falling for complicated tactics and simply dropping a piece. 1800+ players who have earned their rating and kept it there for a while will not drop pieces unless they're floor 1800 players. It's rare.

Sure. I think you're severely overestimating class D players, though. When I played in my last tournamenr, 4 of my 5 1800-2000-rated opponents dropped a piece or more during the game.
Even highly rated players may drop pieces e.g. as part of a tactic that happens to not work out in the end. To the opponent who didn't see the unsound tactic, it may look like a silly mistake, but the actual mistake would have happened at a deeper level of calculation.

I only drop pieces in blitz or in severe time trouble (like when I have one minute on my clock or less)

Why do people fall for this over and over and over?
When someone shows up with an account created a day or two ago and claims anything...I mean anything...just wait 6 months and watch how their posting goes. Sockpuppets will tip their hand; they can't help it.

I took a look at HashtagFlawless' recent games.
You have a good memory, but you don't really seem to understand the purpose of the opening you play, and you seem to be oblivious to your opponent's good tactics.
Work on tactics, especially your opponent's tactics, and you'll improve dramatically.

That hurts my feelings bc i'm not the type to make up a fake identity. Anyone who knows me knows that.

Everything I said about me was entirely true. If u want proof i'll show u. There's nothing to "fall for" here.

do not look at my recent games to give me advice! They were all blitz games and i'm so much worse at blitz than standard! they are not an accurate representation of my ability level in chess!
- I do understand the purposes of the openings I play, otherwise I wouldn't play them. Those are like the 1st things I learn when I learn openings. I do admit, though, I overlook a lot of my opponent's less obvious tactics (although I would probably see them easily if that tactic was available for me.)
- However, I work on tactics every day. Any other advice?
- My memory sucks.
