I like to play the Qa5 line of the Scandinavian sometimes. But sometimes my opponent plays the Tennyson Gambit with 2.Nf3, ... Can I play 2..., c6 and turn it in to a form of Caro Kann?

You could definitely do that, BUT it’s probably better to accept the gambit and be careful to not fall into the ICBM trap.

Also it’s the Tennison Gambitnot tennyson gambit

I do not know the ICBM trap.

this is the ICBM trap

It’s the InterContinental Ballistic Missile variation. You tube it and white is promised a garanteed win. But that is not entirely true.

For black: take the first pawn but not the second. And defend your pawn initially with your bishop, not the knight.

Should be better to accept the gambit. I don’t think it makes much sense to play c6
