If you ask IM pfren, he will laugh at you, then troll you, then make fun of you for playing this opening, and then laugh at the opening.

He will then give some quote implying this move loses on move 1.

It's a great opening....for your chess comedy.

When I am black, I will play this opening. Who wants to try

InfiniteFlash

Speak of the devil, go ask the antichrist right now. He is two posts above me.

Jion_Wansu

black will have to play ... Nf6 or lose. Then 4. Bg5 d5

aggressivesociopath

Ok I'll bite what happens if White plays more directly; 3...Nf6 4. Bd3 Rg8 5. Nf3?

Jion_Wansu

I call this the Munich. The opening overall is called the German or the German opening 1. e4 f5
atarw

its called the fred

InfiniteFlash

e4 f5 is a great opening for suicide chess imo.

Jion_Wansu

DaBigOne, not the sequences of moves and lines the German opening has. Fred is different. That's like saying the Pirch and King's Indian Defense is the same thing...

aggressivesociopath

Nope, I meant 1. e4 f5 2. exf5 g6 3. d4 Nf6 4. Bd3 Rg8 5. Nf3. But then again after 1. e4 f5 2. exf5 g6 3. d4 d5 4. Bd3 what is Black planing? 4...Bxf5 5. Bxf5 gxf5 6. Qh5+ Kd7 7. Qxf5+ Ke8 and Black's compensation is an unsafe king and a collection of pawn weaknesses. 4...gxf5 5. Qh5+ Kd7 6. Bxf5+ Kc6 and I am not even bothering to look for mate. 4...Nf6 5. fxg6 Bg4 6. f3 Bh5 7. gxh7 Black has nothing for his pawns.

Edit just to clerify this posted was directed at post 33 which I assumed was attached to posts 30-32 supra.

ah, my bad

Jion_Wansu

x. fxg6 Bg7

white to move

EDIT: maybe white can't take g6 yet because of x. ... Bg4

I'm a big fan of gambits, and I like to romanticize the "old" style of chess. But this is without a doubt the worst gambit I've ever seen.

I'll play you some games, just for the fun mating nets I'll get to weave!

Yereslov

Here is a better opening:

Black will exert pressure on the queen side, at the expense of weaking the kingside.

Lol yeah that's a better opening.

In what world do you live in?

This is called ''The Bad Opening''

Jion_Wansu I don't know where you got that last position was it 1. e4 f5 2. exf5 g6 3. d4 d5 4. Bd3 Nf6 5. Bg5 Qd6 6. fxg6 Bg7? If you though 7. gxh7 Bg4? ( Qb4+ was surely better) is a problem for White, 8. Bg6+ followed by Qd3 solves it; Black is down three pawns and no longer has the Qb4+ resource. But, why did White insist on playing 5.Bg5 at all? I still say 5. fxg6 and now what? 5...Bg7 6.gxh7 Qd6 does not come with a threat and White can just devolp with Nf3 and Nc3 before touching his queen's bishop, where is Black's compensation for the pawns?

Bd3 is a loss for white. I will show you why
