Hi Sred--looks sound to me as well; the c-pawn gambit is thematic here and the only move that stands out as a possible "refutation" is 7. e5?!. Black can respond ...Nfd7 though, and after 8. dxc5 Nxc5 9. exd6 exd6 white hardly seems better. I say go for it.

Yes, 6...c5 is fine of course, but my question is about the transposition to the Maroczy Bind, which isn't mentioned in my sources and almost never played according to ChessBase.

Tranposing to the maroczy bind probably isn't best. Something like Nc6 first to provoke d5, or play c5xd4 in a more favorable form is more usual.

Yes- but in that case, I fail to understand your initial question.
The move order does not offer white any advantages. Rather the contrary- in some Maroczy variations where Black plants a bishop on e6, white certainly likes to play f2-f4 in one go, which cannot be done here.

Apparently my post wasn't quite clear. Let me rephrase:
I play the KID black with Black. White plays Sämisch. I play 6...c5. White doesn't accept the gambit. I think: "I hate the Sämisch, I like the Accelerated Dragon, so why not go for a Maroczy Bind?" and play 7...cxd4.
My question: is it sound or can White take some totally different path that doesn't lead to a Maroczy (main) line?

You might check transpositions with the pirc. It looks like several pirc variations I've seen.

No it is a standard marcozy except white f-pawn moved slightly prematurely as Pfren already stated.

Well yes, but since I did not get Pfren's mumbling about the white move order (after move six, we have a perfectly normal Sämisch here), I decided to ignore it.
Any idea why this is so rare in practice? Just because the typical KID player doers not like the Maroczy Bind with Black?

In the game below I played the c5 gambit in the KID Sämisch, which White declined. I then preferred to transpose to one of the Maroczy Bind main lines. Is that a viable approach or can White somehow avoid the transposition and take advantage of the attempt?
