It doesn't lose as much as some openings like 1. e4 b6. However, it leads to an early endgame often with an exhange of queens and 2 open files in the center. I play endgame relatively well, but an aggressive gambit player as white might prefer sharper openings, like Alekhine's or the Sicilian.
The following are some traps
3. Bc4 is played fast in bullet and puts a piece en prise. The sacrafice Bxf7 results in a materially even position, but black has a development advantage and his king is not much exposed. In the line when the queen gets skewered to the king, white has other moves which give white about +1.0.
