Whjen I started playing the Center Counter [20 years ago??] it was quite rare. then wrote a book on it and used it in the US Correspondence Chess Championship and won 4 games as Black and was winning other games. And now it is not so rare

Try 1.d4 Nf6 2. c4 d6 3. Nc3 Bf5, I forgot the name of this and haven't played it myself, but it always seems interesting.

I might actually look into this, idk
sounds fun

Checked the explorer, and it's called the Janowski Variation (of the Old Indian Defense).

That's it, now I remember. It's been played by some prolific people over the years.
Dutch, in particular Leningrad.
Hmm, I haven't tried much Leningrad. I usually use Stonewall/d6

An NM plays the Stonewall?

It's not the most resilient defence for black but it's solid enough and rare enough to catch people out. Often, white isn't expecting black to castle kingside and then storm the kingside with pawns, and is insufficiently prepared. I've picked up a fair few wins in the past with this defence, probably more than I should have done. Haven't played it in a long time now though, I prefer Nimzo Indian so I usually just play 1... Nf6 as a reflex against 1. d4
Benko Gambit seems pretty underrated.
Haven't studied it at all but it's a sound gambit.
It's decent, I used to play it.
