What are your thoughts on early queen trade openings?
I only like them when my opponent's the one recapturing. No more castling!
But castling isn’t terribly important when you don’t have a queen, especially kingside castling
I like black in this particular line of the Caro.... although I lost a pretty long game against NM Evan Ling after a few inaccuracies in the middlegame. Generally I dissuade the trade in this line, and only really would trade queens if there is some clear advantage (i.e. doubled pawns for opponent, two bishops, superior pieces, etc.) ![]()
They make the game too much endgame, If I was a good endgame player yes, but sadly that is not the case so nop

I’ve never been comfy in this line, which is why I don’t play dxe4 in this line

As black, I've tried Bg4, g6, and Qc7 with more exciting games ![]()
I like them cos I'll probs blunder my queen at some point later anyway so might as well get the queen for it whilst I can
I know and understand why most people don't like early queen trades, but I love them. (Not the ones where I recapture with Kxd1 or Kxd8 though). I generally do better when there are less pieces on the board, and I can get to a less complicated (at least in my eyes) endgame. I feel that I play endgames much better than I play the middlegame, and the quicker I'm in an endgame, the better I'll do. No disrespect to those who look down on early queen trades, as most, if not all of you lot are actually good at navigating the middlegame with more pieces on the board.

Beginners trash at endgames. Literally went from 1300-1700 uscf just off of endgames #AlwaysTrade
Yeah I'm only like 970 rapid but I play endgames much better than that, so if I can trade queens early, I will.

That centre pawn structure leads to "Rauzer formation centre" which is generally considered a better pawn structure for black in endgame.

im bad at endgames lol
Hah! Noted, I’ll make sure I force an early queen trade and a big piece trade off to a rook and pawn endgame in my daily game against you.
Im not sure youll survive the opening though
ulf andersson intentionally tries to reach queenless middlegames/endgames practically with his entire repertoire. it has good practical merit, as theory will stop investigating once equality is reached, and so you are on your own by then. the sooner you get out of theory, the sooner you can try to outplay the opponent little by little.
proving a draw out of an equal position is an exhausting and thankless task against a good technical player.
