You should try playing opening with different pawn structure even if you lose games. Either you start with d3 or e3 is matter of your preference

Both e3 and Bg5 are very common after the bookline opening.
Personally, I prefer Bg5 because e3 will block the bishop’s development. It also pins the knight(sort of), then you can follow it with e3, B-d3, and then castle. Black’s normal response would be B-e7 to unpin the knight, followed by castle.
Bookline though goes Dxc4 by black for semi slav accepted after Bg5, and e4 by white for semi slav defense botvinnik variation.

bg5 is the theorist's choice. tons of forced lines. e3 is a quieter way to play favoured among others by technical players. it does cut out black's most aggressive tries because now the c4 pawn is defended, which in most other cases black gets to take and hold on to.

if you play bg5 and make it up as you go there is a big chance you will lose in a miniature. if you play e3 and do the same you might lose still but it will most likely be some kind of cumulative thing. on the other hand you are more likely to win in spectacular fashion in bg5 whereas e3 is rather dry.

I don't like the h6 g5 and dxc4 line for black, it is too aggressive and I am not good in those positions where the opponent is aggressive.

you can avoid dxc4 lines if black gives you time to take on f6, which is the case if he plays h6 first. you can take on f6 and then play e3 or e4. the immediate dxc4 i don't have a way to avoid though, so if you don't like these structures, then e3 is the way to go.
