What is the best answer to a white g2-g3, f1-g2?f

I´m quite a beginner and my friend always moves the bishop to f2, when he plays white.

Is it still correct for me to position myself with my pawns on d5 and e5?

I often get to the position where i have pawns on d5 and e5, the knights on c6 and f6, plus the bishops on d6 and e6. I once read, that this is a good position. Is that right? Or should I move different in this case?

Obviously he's talking about a fianchetto and mistyped.

Your setup is a universally good setup(some might argue that the bishops are more active on c5 and f5), and it works fine against basically anything. The point of the fianchetto is to get an aggressive bishop on the longest diagonal on the board, so if you block the centre or exchange off the bishop(it should be pinned to the rook if white castles kingside) you can eliminate the threat.

Thanks for the quick answers. I feel a little more comfortable now.

The only thing in my position with pawns on d5 and e5, bishops on d4 and e4, that bothers me a little, is that with my knights on c6 and f6 my pawns on c and f are blocked to support the pawns on d5 and e5. Is that a problem?
