Bro nobody cares what you want people to say. We already saw you saying this in the thread opening post, what are you the ****ing principal? Do you honestly think anyone is going to look at that and say "hurr, guess I better not make a troll post then".

I suppose you're going to block me from posting in the thread now, good joke.

He doesn't have the power to

@drmrboss, as far as I know, Lc0 most likely likes 1.d4 due to the Berlin. That's what AlphaZero preferred and I assume they both would play the same thing as they are both neural net engines.

I agreed. Berlin is one of the main reason she dont like playing 1. e4. ( Too drawish in Berlin)

Drawish even for Stockfish and Leela? What if the opposing engine is 200 points below?  Will the Berlin still be a draw?

Opening books improve +50 to +100 elo generally (depends on how deep your book lines is).

Berlin lines can narrow elo difference from -200 to -100. Chess is more drawish in symmetrical pawn structures lines (opening).

oh yeah I see. Apologies for mixing you up, I assumed he was the OP going around telling people what to do like that. It's fair enough to make a request for the thread in the OP. Guess I'll have to read more carefully.

The engines and NNs prefer e4, d4, c4, and Nf3.  The order of which it prefers can change depending on the depth.  Lc0 prefers d4 over e4 for 2 reasons: the Berlin (as already mentioned) and the Sicilian (where both Lc0 and AlphaZero handled it poorly - by engine standards - from both sides).

The only value this provides is that playing anything other than those 4 moves will result in giving Black better chances out of the opening (from an objective standpoint - practicality is another topic entirely).

A billion way tie for any move in the opening that gives an immediate checkmate.

No, but seriously ... 100% mathematical truth.

No, but seriously ... what is the least significant change that is considered statistically significant for moves given in these engine assessments? For instance, is a move that is rated at +0.20 considered statistically significantly better than a move that is rated +0.16? What fraction of a pawn difference is required for each engine to be considered a truly significant difference in the quality of a move?

1.a4 is actually much better, allows the tower to get out early happy.png

According to my newest version of Stockfish NNUE, the supposed most powerful chess engine, this is the best opening.

If you let Leela play both sides she will play a Nimzo-Ragozin. On the lack side against e4 she will play a Berlin.

It is d4. This is Alpha Zero's analysis which is the strongest in the world

Avatar of Aron_08

There is no best E4 or D4 i like E4 better but D4 is also good

Avatar of stassneyking

According to the strongest computer in the world there is a difference and d4 is preferred. This is a fact.

I know that stockfish on lichess seems to prefer the opening move 1.c4 overall, the English opening.

Stockfish is not the strongest computer in the world.
