well kings gambit ...i think that 80% of the games played have ended with win for black! so its not an opening i would reccomend ;)

The bongcloud attack!

It involves an attack on the enemy position with one's king. It never fails.

Remembering the bongcloud attack sure helps to cheer me up after a loss or blunder.  My wife even knows this.  On day not too long ago I was in "not too good of a mood" since I had already lost several games and then proceeded to drop a piece in several other games.  My wife mentioned Lenny Bongclouds games and immediately I began to smile.

The best opening is the one you study and practice.

..and may I add "Enjoy"?

Feeling comfortable and having fun is always important.

Do not believe rumors in the forums that the Lenny Bongcloud Gambit has been refuted. The only thing under debate is if it is considered to be a gambit or not. Experts on the gambit/opening do claim that it works symetrically well for white and black.

Those stats are not accurate.  It is more or less equal.  49 Percent for White and 51 percent for Black.  Black can try to hold on to the gambited pawn but at the cost of a bad position.  If Black is not careful, he will be run over by White very quickly.  Nobody is going to bust the King's Gambit.

King's gambit is not only a dangerous weapon tactically for white, it's actually quite structurally sound. White ends up with tactical opportunities AND a space advantage.

Hey fellow chess players!!!

I'm wondering what is the best chess opening to use and the best way to control the center squares. Any signature moves that u fellow players use?

All opinions welcome!!!

The best opening for you is the one you score most points with...(especially against stronger opposition)

it depends on what you like more, for example, if you like to take risks, you may play the king's gambit or something

Thanks for showing me the Bongcloud Attack.  I've looked into the variations and they really are a new way of thinking about chess.

The Bongcloud Attack is also pretty limited Theorywise. The practitioneers are however rather few.

Dont tell them the Moxin Anti-Bongcloud variation.  This is a serious topic

All openings can be countered

How ever, I prefer the kings pawn opening as it helps control the center and opens the queen and bishop for influence

Learn a few of the classic solid openings, but don't worry about getting too deeply into any of them. The Ruy Lopez mentioned earlier is a good suggestion, but remember that, though 1... e5 is the most common response your oponent may answer with c5, d5,e6,Nf6 or any of several well known defences. You can't make your opponent play the opening you studied.
