What is the worst gambit?

you're supposed to play qf6 and Black is still a lot better, especially if he can survive the attack and find a way to simplify

Sameer_chess-player

and its really hard to not mess up. After 11...b6 to fianchetto the bishop, 12.Qxf7+ Kd8 13.d4, all of a sudden white's much better down a piece!

Wait…. Guys! Listen! The ross gambit (or what you call the anti reti gambit actually has a purpose! It is one of my favourite gambits in fact. Here is a brilliant trap happy.png

DISCLAIMER:

This is not the stafford gambit!! Its called the Ross Walrus JUST like stafford in a different move order.

Proof if you dont believe me (pgn here)

1. Nf3 e5 2. Nxe5 Nc6 3. Nxc6 dxc6 4. E4 nf6 5. D3 bc5 6. Bg5 nxe4 7. Bxd8 Bxf2+ 8. Ke2 bg4#

"What is the worst gambit?"

The Englund Gambit is the worst known gambit, or as the Ginger GM calls it - "A Youtube gambit".

---

You don't need to know the refutation to it, you just 0-0 and you win. - Black's setup is too stupid. I speak from experience.

I really dislike King's Gambit, Cochrane Gambit and the Englund Gambit.

king's gambit and cochrane gambit are fine why  think theyre bad i mean even if u gambit a knight white's better

Actually if you check the engine it says black is better

are u so sure about that?

the analysis shows +0.97

Even if the engine shows that white is better it doesn't mean a human would be able to convert it. White is down a piece and after Qf6 or Qg5 black seems not to be doing too bad

England?

Englund

Botez Gambit. Is it even a question?

alphaous

I would say Englund is the worst frequently played gambit because White gets better development. Yet people keep playing it praying that their opponent falls into one of the two traps. If you survive until move 8, then it's your game to lose.

It's a nickname for hanging a queen.
