The Ruy Lopez isn’t beginner friendly so I wouldn’t recommend play it.

Also, The Kings Indian Defense & Kings Indian Attack can both be beginner friendly.

Most 1.d4 players in lower leagues are mainly London Players and the Kings Indian is great counter openings to combat the London.

The London & Kings Indian are great Rival Openings.

So yeah if you want a list of beginner openings.

White side:

- Italian Game

- London

- KIA

Black side vs. 1.d4

- KID

- Triangle

- QGA

Black side vs. 1.e4

- Caro Kan

- French Defense

- Philidor Defense

Ur not intermediate but anyway it depends on your playing style and preferences.

If you’re comfortable with paling aggressively, use the Scotch Gambit. Very effective when playing against beginners. Usually best when played against players in the 500 to 1000 range. Goes like this: 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 exd4 4. Bc4. From here, you can castle easily and gain central dominance. In some lucky cases, you can win a rook. I would encourage you to look into it and try playing it in games

I think Queens Gambit is the way to go. It teaches you classical chess principles.... and knowledge of the lines will always be useful to you, since so many lines transpose w/ d4 openings.
