What opening should I use as black?

I’m an 1100 who does not know what opening to use as black. I haven’t really found an opening that I’m comfortable with and gives me a good position. The one I’ve been using often is the Pirc, however I dont really like it that much because of how passive it is and how White can easily attack me.

I’m the type of person who plays the London (very comfortable opening), so can the answers be sort of based on that? Just like an opening where I’m very safe and I also get attacking opportunities.

Based solely on the information given here, l would like to suggest the Caro kann against 1.e4 and the Tarrasch defense against 1.d4.

Both of these defenses will last you a lifetime. Both of these defenses can and have been played at all levels including world championship games.

All sound openings will do. Easiest ones to learn (and both of them being extremely good against players of any level) is Petroff against 1.e4 and Queen's Gambit Accepted against 1.d4.

But have in mind that learning openings right now will neither raise your rating, nor make you a better player. For that, you need to improve at tactical play.

Yes sir, all sound openings will do.

But I do see some initial issues with either of these defenses but facing those issues will make a better player in the long run.

If your opponent plays Nf3 as white, play Nf6, d5, e6, or maybe even something like Nc6
