what’s ur favorite / the best chess opening and how to counter attack it?

People put WAY too much emphasis on opening lines on this site.

At least TWICE as much as the subject deserves.

Twice is an incredibly generous lowball. That being said, if we had even a tenth as much discussion about actual opening lines as we do "which opening is best/should I play/does Hikaru recommend/will help me win/gives free ELO for beginners" then I would not be opposed. That being said, "opening discussion" threads are unfortunately far more uncommon than actual threads about opening discussion. I point to good threads as the Sokolsky thread that pops up from time to time, that one in which that one troll "solved" the Sicilian using the Alapin, and that one that got deleted but gave an entire opening tree dedicated purely to nullifying the London.
