Italian opening, fried liver variation!!!
What's y'alls favorite opening?
Italian opening, fried liver variation!!!
Black should never allow the Fried Liver and play 5...Na5 rather than the stupid 5...Nxd5??, allowing the Fried Liver.
Hmmm, this is tricky for me as I go through phases where I vary things.
Currently for White I really like the
1) Italian : Bird's Attack is currently my favorite line
2) Bird's Opening (just because it creates positions that can be so different from the usual )
3) King's Bishop Gambit (although I only dabble with this but it is a lot of fun. Scotch Gambit is probably my first love for gambit play, but somehow I always end up hanging back in that one and with the KBG I seem to get more violent. I lose brilliantly as a result, but the wins can be just as pretty, and the game is always interesting)
For Black it's easier
1) Petroff's Defense
2) Dutch Defense
Bishop's, and for black the Italian game: Rousseou Gambit (second is englund, third is wayward queen). Worst openings ever recorded: Scandinavian defense and Bongcloud
White: Danish Gambit and it's family tree (Center Game, Scotch Game, Scotch Gambit, Goring Gambit)
Black vs 1.e4: Petrov's Defense , Latvian Gambit. accept all 1.e4 e5 gambits.
Black vs 1.d4 : QGA , Chigorin variation, Blackmar-Diemar, Albin CounterGambit
Things like London System---call in the Luftwaffe
Half-Opens: just gambit, Smith-Morra, etc.
Top 3 for White:
1. Italian Game: Giuoco Pianissimo
2. Ruy Lopez: Exchange Variation
3. Reti Opening: Any Variation
For Black:
1. Sicilian Defense: Traditional Variation
2. Queen's Pawn Opening: Accelerated London System
3. Queen's Gambit Declined
I'd love to hear yours!
