I have a question?
Which gambit gives your opponent the least initiative?
As per my name, I know some stuff about gambits.
At your rating, (
A few I might recommend would be, in order of greatest to least complications: King's Gambit, Danish Gambit, Reti Gambit.
The "best" gambit in my mind is the Morra against the Sicilian. I never recommend the Morra to players rated under 1600 though, because it is a very complicated gambit to play successfully.
EDIT
I play the Bishop's Opening myself and I can tell you this is a complicated one. Magical sacrifices don't appear to you.
Since all of these gambits are against e5, on second thought I would emphasize my support of the King's Gambit. There are few gambits that give more initiative than this one.
1.Nf3 d5 2.c4 d4 3.b4
The Reti Opening not the Reti Gambit. Just double checked with my reference.
If you are looking for gambits this site might help, Encyclopedia of Chess Gambits.
It catalogs games from the years 1540-2010. It claims to have 700+ gambit lines.
On each line it gives statistics such as oldest games played, newest games played, frequent players for both colors, rating and performance, positional themes, and a theory table.
The amount of work is extensive. There are more than 10,800 pdf pages.

I dont follow, didnt you ask GambitExtraordinaire where the reti gambit was?
I Believe it is either coming out from 1.Nf3 d5 2.c4 d4 3.b4, possibly following 3..f6 4.e3 e5 5.c5 line. OR 1.nf3 d5 2.c4 d4 3.e3 c5 4.b4 which would more accurately be called the reverse blumenfeld.
He coul also be talking about lines in the open reti where black plays dxc4, but I dont believe this gives white much initiative, it does give good compensation in the form of pressure and space, but not initiative.
I dont understand your reply though? are you saying my line isnt the reti gambit and is just simply the reti opening, or something else?
The smithmorra gives you extra initiative towards the sicilian and in my opinion is the best gambit against the sicilian - for e4 e5 scotch gives you a little intitaive and you can easily get back hte pawn
Queens gambit also works well if they take it - however if they refute it you will get the THIRD most BORING game ever (behind guicco piano, and italian game)
