Bird is more aggressive, and better for beginners

If you play Sicilian as black, then English, if you play Dutch as black then Bird.

this makes no sense. The Sicilian is an opening against e4, the Dutch is an opening against d4.

they can also be played as white against e5/d5, if you play the english and get e5, you have a sicillian but for white. if you play the bird and get d5, you have a dutch but for white.

I’m talking from a possibility standard- but yes you don’t play the English to develop your queen

Alright, let’s actually be serious now. The bird is a weak opening that weakens the king unnecessarily. f4 is supposed to control e5, but d4 is a much stronger first move that also controls e5 that doesn’t weaken the king. The English allows for many flexible, solid setups that white will utilize on. e3 and d4, g3, and Bg2, etc. I’ll say e4 is better to control d5, but the English is perfectly playable. As a Sicilian lover, the English sounds like an interesting choice to take in mind if I’m unable to play e4 for whatever reason.

its like playing a dutch in reverse, if you can defend pretty well and if your opponent isnt a gm then its not gonna matter way to much and you can be completely fine playing the birds opening. its like playing a (sound) gambit, yes not playing a gambit is technically better but you can have more initiative and great ways to attack and be the one who is attacking.

I'm a full-time English player, And in reality it's not that complex... People want you to not play it. I recommend the English as a solid opening, however, I think that the bird is more aggressive.
