If you read french I would have a nice book to recommend (by Nicolas Giffard), otherwise I would advise you to play mostly e4 and open games, and to read Capablanca's chess fundamentals (you don't need anything else, except studying good games like Fischer's for example and for tactics I would recommend the book Alekhine, tactical genius). If you have the patience, Dvoretsky's endgame manual is very good too.
