Bro that is the french defense:
And there are a lot of variations from here on
?????? What are you talking about, it is to trade the c pawn for the d pawn
If this does not happen, black gets crushed
I have an exciting line against Tarrasch with f4, Universal Tarrasch, Main Line Tarrasch, Steinitz Classical, Burn Classical, and Advance variation is just easy to play with black, you play actively you can't loose
if they cant win, why would they play it?
They can win, but if you play actively usually you don't loose
@DangerousMadhav thank you for actually replying for something on-topic. Yeah I thought of giving up the french...
If you don't like the French they will only give you american ladger! & that is gross!
I like it, but I am not happy because each time I pray for opponents not to play exd5 and they play it (real) nd then I get bored and sleep and lose on time (just kidding, caricaturral)
The only reason why I would play the exchange french is - 1. I want to get a draw against a higher rated opponent and not get into complications and 2. I want to play c4 and get into a IQP where I am attacking.

1 is very wrong, in exchange french , the better player will win, IQP is a correct idea
It depends on how much time you give it, exd5 should be like +0.02, advance same, Classical and Tarrasch maybe +0.1 or 2
I notice that mainly U1600 Players play exchange french, maybe they don't know theory and want to go for a simple position? This is just a hypothesis as I am bad at chess
There are lots of ways to play either side of the exchange french. Yes, it can be boring. It can also be rather dangerous for either side if there are some missteps. In the exchange variation, the point is to exchange the e-pawns off, creating a d-d ram and open e file.
In the real French (not the Exchange var. which is played by wimps), Black exchanges his C pawn for White's D pawn, much like in the main line Sicilian. The difference is that Blacks QB is a bad piece in the French, but NOT in the exchange var.
@subotaikhan I agree, @IHAVETHECORONAVURUS you are not a bad player show some self-confidence your hyphothesis is quite logical thank you I Think I got my answers
When I hear that someone doesn't like to play a particular line, it makes me even more inclined to play it. Why? Because whatever the reason there is a good chance that it will become a distraction for my opponent.
(And of course I am talking about playing in a competitive situation --- not just playing a casual game with a friend.)
