I’m actually including the Scotch in my reptitore for my upcoming tournament, and am going to practice it here. Unfortunately, no one seems to cooperate
Why not the Scotch?

I'll practice with you! 3 day daily?

I like the scotch as black. I don’t play it as white, but I’m sure I’d like it if I did

Ok. Should I send the challenge or will you? Maybe do a custom thing?

because white ruy lopez is much stronger opening and because black equalizes easily
No. The Scotch Gambit is very goood.

I like the scotch game. In fact, I use it against my son all the time!
Not good idea, he may think that all opponents will do the Scotch

StockTomato, care to look at my recent game that featured the Scotch?
Please don’t judge my last move, I was distracted

Thing about the Scotch is it's probably a little too middle ground for most amateurs. It's not fully mainline and it's not off beat. It's not quite solid and not quite swashbuckling. It's not a "system" either, and it requires a lot of concrete knowledge to play accurately in the more theoretical lines. Perfectly fine opening, just not what you're looking for for unless you're Kasparov circa 1990.

Thanks for thread and all the contributions. I have all the time been searching high and low for information on this peculiarly seldom practiced opening, and often discouraged by results of search.

What do people think of this line? No one has seemed to consider it.
Of course this is equal, but I feel as though black has the more comfortable play.
Very hard to play too much tactical for many very deep prepare needed so much computer work done so may they no more use it

This is the pet line of the late Tony Miles, and it's pretty much OK for Black.
Malaniuk's 5...Be7 (instead of 5...Bc5) is also worth looking at.
