Would you play this?

2. ... Qh4# seems to send this idea back where it came from? ;) Quickest possible mate in the game.
But surely you knew already...

Yes, superficially it looks bad for White but I'm sure that many players with the Black pieces will be so put off by the Theoretical Novelty that they will fall for Spassky's Trap:

instead of mate .... why we going trap..... That would be provided by the opponent....

I've used this trap before and it works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you have a link to the game? I'm sure some people think I'm making all this up.

Even though black is down a queen, I would still say he's winning - I would not want to be white with doubled pawns on the g-file.

I'm not sure I posted this thread with positional players in mind, please desist immediately, your unwelcomed intrusion is not helping.
After 1. f4 e5 2. g4 moving the Queen to h4 is a certain mistake. You shouldn't bring out your Queen too early.

No, it was OTB. My opponent was nudging all his pieces into position slowly. I captured the queen before it got to the h4 square.

Actually, I prefer the subtler 2... Be7 (threatening 2... Bh4 mate). As did Nimzovich.

Very interesting approach, and now we have a master on board perhaps some people will take the Prawn Toast Variation a little more seriously. I am convinced that this line is a major breakthrough in opening theory and I commend its use to all readers.
Brilliant! White creates an unstoppable pawn storm right from the beginning! It looks like black is already doomed at move 2.
