You're white and play 1 d4. Would you rather face Nimzo-Indian or Queen's Indian?

Here's the hypothetical.  You're white, and the first two moves are: 1 d4 Nf6 2 c4 e6

If you play 3 Nc3 black will play Bb4, Nimzo.  If you play 3 Nf3 black will play b6 and go into the Queen's Indian.

Which would you rather face?  And why?

Neither. E4 best by test.

Jokes aside, I would probably rather face the QID because the opponent probably could have more prep with the Nimzo.

I'd rather go into a QID as white because the pawn sac lines are super annoying for black... at least that's my impression.

QID!!!!!

WALKINGLOSS

QID. Nimzo-Indian is too much for me lol

Neither!  I would play 3.g3 - The Catalan - if I was forced to play that position.

Luckily enough, I would never get that.  I play 1.e4, 1.Nf3, or 1.c4, and while I could very well transpose to a Catalan (1.Nf3 Nf6 2.e4 e6 3.g3 d5 4.Bg2 Be7 (4...dxc4 5.Qa4+) 5.O-O O-O and now I would play 6.d4 (Catalan) over 6.b3 (Reti), but I would not do it via 1.d4 and 2.c4.

i would prefer the qid. the d5 pawn sacrifice is quite dangerous and as far as i know black has no good way to avoid it.

I've never analised much of the d4 lines. I just go naturally against it as black and go as e4 from white. Still, I prefer the QID cuz im more experienced in that.

2.c4, I guess.

4.f3 is a nice attacking option against the nimzo.

Yes, that was either a typo or my phone being stupid with it's autocorrect feature.

To be honest, they are both equal in value, it would just depend on your taste. However, even then, in the Nimzo there can be sharp lines such as 4.a3 and 4.f3, but also tame ones such as 4.e3 or 4.Qc2.

In the QID, it is generally positional chess.
