I imagine it does affect the results but it shouldn't eliminate them entirely.
I just tried Chessbase Online and searched for Anderssen Morphy and came up with 18 games, all played in 1858.
Chessgames.com only comes up with 17.

Does having duplicates affect searching games in a database? For example I put a game collection from chessgames.com of Adolf Anderssen in a database and then put a similar collection of Paul Morphy.
Also Before I put and Morphy games, I searched all of Anderssen's games for a Morphy game and I got a no results found but I know they played in 1858 but i found them when I was scrolling through so I can't tell what I'm doing wrong.
