Who says Capablanca doesn't know how to sac?
I'm NOT really a HUGE Capablanca fan BUT I'm slowly and surely being converted. No, the game above is NOT an 'attacking maniac' game by Capa. He sacrificed 2 pawns, however, one was declined...and the other one was accepted.
I have annotated this right here - A Nice Capablanca Game
Now, I'm NOT the second coming of Bent Larsen or Jan Timman - both great analysts, players, and annotators. HOWEVER, I do hope you enjoy my notes...and if you find an idea or two to help you improve in chess, all the better.
OK, back to the game, some lessons I have learned (and pointed out in my analysis):
1. When the statics of the position are against you, play dynamically and actively. Don't just sit there defending your weaknesses!
2. So your opponent has counterplay? Fine! Nip it right in the bud and resume the onslaught :D
3. When your opponent has ONLY one or two active pieces and your whole army is active, consider snapping one off - leaving you the only one who enjoys activity.
And so MUCH MORE!
Check out my notes. If you can point out errors or ideas I have missed, all the better! That should help us improve in chess even MORE.
