Hikaru or Magnus… who is better?

It is widely known that Magnus Carlsen is generally the better player, with a dominant record in classical chess. However, the matches are more closely contested in faster time controls like blitz and bullet, where Nakamura is a leading expert. Carlsen’s advantage stems from his consistent top-level performance in classical formats, his high-ever recorded rating, and World Championship titles, while Nakamura is known for his speed and online play.

So who do you think is better, Magnus Carlsen or Hikaru Nakamura?

Magnus is often considered more dominant than Hikaru in chess, and has defeated him in many classical chess games. However, Hikaru can still be better than Magnus in speed blitz games. Hikaru has never been world champion though.

I think Hikaru can be better than himself and Magnus can be better than himself.

So the answer is : Yes and No because we can be better than what we have never thought.

Hikaru or Magnus, who is better, often depends on which part of chess you value most. Magnus dominates classical and overall competitive achievements, while Hikaru shines as the king of online blitz and bullet with unmatched consistency. In the end, both are exceptional, but Magnus is generally considered stronger across all formats, whereas Hikaru reigns supreme in the fast-paced online arena. I think...

A bit strange to say, however-

I feel a bit sorry for Hikaru, he would likely be the multiple time world Champ, had he been born at a different time.

Hikaru may not be as good as Magnus-but he's usually better than all the others
