Does anyone know?

I suppose I will waste some hours and try to find out but it is just something I am curious about.

Aronian was, but sadly his wife died.

I don't think Carlsen, Caruana or Nakamura are ?!

I have a feeling most are not. To reach that level you have to spend every waking hour concentrating on Chess. How can you have a relationship and children when you simply have no time for them?

It was the man, Bobby Fischer, who made me think of this. One was one of the times he was a guest on the Johnny Carson show. John basically asked him you have done this and that and now you made it. What do you do for an encore? Bobby's eyes and facial expression said it all and he could not really answer it. It was almost like he was saying , there is no encore.

He made a whopping $156,250 (before taxes?) which would have left him with less than half of that. Here is a young man who devoted his entire life to chess, won the world title and basically made chump change out of it.

To retain his title he would have to continue devoting his entire life to chess and for what? A little bit of money.

I think he was burned out on chess for many reasons.

I think he wanted something that he had never had before. A family.

He met a girl and was madly in love with her. He called her "the best love" that he had ever known. Without warning she left him and it totally devastated him. After that happened he started behaving really weird.

How did I start talking about Fischer.

I wonder how many of the top players are in a meaningful relationship besides with their computer engines ( which Bobby never had ).

I was not aware of that. That is very sad.
