That depends on the rating system you are referring to... (although almost every rating will be different). Is there a national rating system for Pakistan, or does everyone use FIDE?

I told yoou that Chess Federation has not responded. And I have learnt about these ratings only after joining this site. I do want to participate in local tournaments. Will keep on searching till I get one.

Among my friends, and they are many, none can play chess. Isn't it strange? Everyone seems to be cricket-crazy. I have captained my own cricket team. Been a member of football team. Was a team-member of my school Hockey team and College Table Tennis & Bad Minton teams. Am a Black Belt in karate also. So have friends from all these interests. But still waiting to find a buddy who could play chess.
And if I formed a club! ....... I guess there are more than one members required...... ha ha ha... good idea though.
You could wait for MSAP(Mind Sports Assosiaciation Pakistan) to come to your city...they are organizing some big tournaments in Karachi http://www.msap.com.pk/ ....seriosly no hope from the chess federation..they are doing nothing...and well a dream of a chess club comes later....first wait for a tournament to start.
And btw our city don't have a chess club with a population of about 10 MILLION!!!And no tournaments..only Karachi is bit privileged in this matter.

If there are enough people interested in chess in your city cant you start a chess club ? Has anyone ever tried ?

I already found Team Pakistan on Chess.Com. 95 Members to start with. I think we CAN EXPAND in real life too. As Babs said, there might be people waiting for us. And Adeel! someday soon you could find me Lahore to play OTB

Since last two weeks, I have been trying to look for any chess-club in my city with a population of more than 3.5 Million, but I found none (how unfortunate). Even mailed the lazy Chess Federation of the state. No response. Is one's rating lower OTB even if he/she is a quick mover Online?
