I'm sure he saw it. Sometimes at least for me at least once I've made a move that I did not intend after long calculations. Don't know if that happens to others. More often in faster games I also end up consciously playing a move I previously rejected in an earlier branch of calculations. Maybe these things happen to GMs too. Or more likely, it could be something he smoked earlier ...
