King vs king,queen,rook,&2 pawns etc. and you've got a recipe for a accidental stalemate.

Exactly. In a live tournament yesterday, the guy got like three queens and a bishop and I got a draw off him. That's why I play on. For all I know, they might mishandle the endgame :P. And, sometimes I like proving players wrong. The last time someone asked me to resign, I ended up winning :)

Well, if you don't accidentally stalemate me while you have those several knights, not a problem, since I would have lost if I resigned anyway. If you do, I guess that would be a pretty satisfying moment, not that I would realistically expect that to happen. But if I'm in the mood, get a stroke of curiosity, I may accept the free lottery ticket. Buying lottery tickets, even cheaply, is generally not profitable, but if I'm getting them for free I won't necessarily mind them.

If on the other hand you got like a .2 point bonus for resigning in an adequately lost position, however that is defined, then I would make sure my resignation timing was perfect, sure.

"If you are rated U1600 here, there's no reason to resign a live game."

I can think of reasons--just takes a little imagination.

What happened to landwehr?

And, more importantly, what happened to landwehrkanal?

DrSpudnik

Almost. It is in Berlin, after all.
