My Top 2:
1) Fischer
2) Who cares
Where would players like Kasparov, Karpov, etc. rank without there teams who did a lot of their work away from the board. Fischer on the other hand did his own preparation and analysis of adjourned positions. These were big factors in the olden days when games were adjourned and seconds, teams, computers, all fair game in preparing for the resumed game.

I still don't understand why people think that Fisher would be #1.
He was popular - yes. Was he domineering chamption like Karpov or Kasparov???
In order to be considered #1 you have to prove that you are #1. He had a chance to do it but walked away early in his career!

You obviously dont know much about FisCher if you dont understand why so many believe he was #1 of all time. Fischer was more dominating than both Karpov and Kasparov , just not for as long a period of time. He quit chess at a time when he was 100 points higher rated than #2 and he showed no signs that he had stopped improving !

I dont know about Fisher but FisCher died in January of last year, yes.
