Very abusive language by Armenian GM

today i was watching the match between the users zoranp and gevorg_harutjunyan. after several games gevorg wrote "i have lage" and when i corrected "lage" with "lag" he cursed me in russian: "poshel naxui TURK" (f... you TURK). i dont know the guy, have no past with him, just because i corrected his misspelled word he cursed me with such a hatred. he also added political things out of the context.   

i am quite shocked how a gm can be such aggressive, reckless, impolite and out of the frameworks of civilized behavior. i already wrote to chess.com about it with this screenshot: http://tinypic.com/r/oj2z4n/8 and waiting for their reply. i am just amazed how big a hatred people have in their hearts nowadays..

btw. until now chess.com always banned people who used such a language. i am wondering if this guy's being a gm will change their policy because the abuse is clear and leaves no grey areas to consider. i dont think they will apply double standards but am still worried that he will get away with this..

Why are most chess players the biggest pussies ever?  Taking a screenshot, complaining to the site and the forums too.  Who cares?  Clearly the guy fails at life, so why are you letting one stupid comment on the internet bother you?  

The GM's comments were out of line. I think the OP was correct to bring it to someone's attention.

Just because we're American and insult everyone under the sun doesn't mean that this behavior is appropriate

Oh come on dude, where does it say that having a chess title makes you immune to these things? Besides, if I say i have lage, I have lage ok? Don't correct me - and as others mentioned, yes, he is armenian and you are from turkey, stating in caps lock ARMENIAN GM in the thread title... so I'm starting to believe you're being malicious here...

I can see how the OP's comment could be interpreted as insulting - the GM almost certainly knows that the correct spelling is "lag" but the post implies that he doesn't actually know that, as opposed to making a simple typo. He perhaps feels that the OP is being nitpicking and condescending - he's just lost a game because of lag, and now someone is calling him a dummy?

Maybe the OP didn't mean it that way and it's certainly no excuse for the language, but let's apply some common sense, people.

From what I can tell you posted offensive language here and called out a titled player in public. Just what are you thinking?

1- history between ottoman empire - armenians is not relevant. although i have good sources, i will not reply to these out-of-context talks. imagine an arab or jewish gm cursing to a spanish player who corrects his orthography and then brings the context to the spanish inquisition. does it make sense? no. so don't bring irrelevant topics up. i did not say anything about history or nationality to him in that chat. you can check it out. i spoke to him as a human being. he suddenly said irrelevant and unacceptable things. also as you can see, he was being racist. racism is not ok. (last sentence for some commentators above).

2- if an ordinary person had done that, his account would be history. how about a titled player? because he is titled, he can say and do anything he wants? i don't think chess.com would allow that and i deeply hope they will do what is necessary.

played a game 1/0 calls me a "clown" afterward - - can someone tell me why? perhaps he wanted me to resign? it was only a minutes game, perhaps his rating was lower than mine and didn't expect to win. more and more there are persons behaving poorly, just play chess!

its not only about being rude luke. i wouldn't mind if the armenian gm would call me a "clown". but he referred to my nationality with a racist notion and used a severe tone. i did not do anything to deserve those bad words. this should not be tolerated on chess.com

i read some of the comments above and felt very irritated. ppl taking sides obviously with political motives instead of taking sides with the obviously right and offended one. 

i hope chess.com does what needs to be done (what otherwise would be done against others). otherwise i will have question marks about this beautiful site.

You're clearly agitating to get this GM banned, which makes me think your initial comment to him was indeed meant to be condescending and annoying.

I think that a straight out ban would be too heavy handed, and that a caution from the mods would be sufficient. I don't think an ordinary person should be banned for what might be a one off brain snap in response to provocation either. If the offender had very few games and demonstrated other anti-social behaviour, then a straight ban might be appropriate, but not in this case.

I'd ban everybody who has the fake "gm" profile picture and thinks the opponent is an idiot unable to notice it. Just my two cents.

people. i am the offended one here. hello? this is starting to be really annoying. please don't question my intention or agitation or other motives. you cannot read my mind so all these subjective comments caedrel makes are nothing but non-sense.

i expect: just see the screenshot (evidence) and do what needs to be done against anyone who used this kind of language.
