I don't think that he was mad, I think Bobby Fischer was a misunderstood individual, He was very intelligent (over the board as well as in life) and many people didn't take the time to listen to his complex views on the world. You should watch his amateur documentary on YouTube, I watched it during this lockdown and it is quite insightful. You don't have to agree with anything he says but listen to his points before you dismiss them. That's my opinion on Bobby Fischer

You have a very strong opinion and youre clearly very intelligent! I respect thatthumbup.png

"Chess doesn't drive people mad, it keeps mad people sane." Fischer embodied the truth of his remark.

We just got done with the chess is racist and en passant is cheating topics. Now this again.

Please let Bobby rest in peace.

I'm a big fan of Bobby Fischer and see nothing wrong with reflecting on his life whether that involves him possibly being mad or not and if u don't appreciate me doing so pls don't hate on me for it. RIP Bobby.

Same

It depends who you ask. I'm sure Fischer considered himself sane and thought the rest of the world was mad.

He wasn't mad, he was just disillusioned, because he was thinking in real life the way he was thinking in chess (just like he said that chess is life), and there are lot of good examples that such chess grandmasters became insane. Based on his troubled childhood, time and again he developed the paranoia and his condition just got deteriorated as he grew up. His main problem was that he became the world champion, that's why he was gone since he won, because chess was the only thing that was keeping him on track, but as he became the world champion, there was nothing more to be done, he reached everything in game, there were no any other obstacles that he didn't overcome, and since then he just didn't know what to do with his life anymore and as he stopped playing, he just looked everything the way it was chess. That's why the paranoia just got developed in him, he was anti semit even though he was jew by himself, and when he stop playing he thought that there was the second coming of anti christ and it would be soon, though as it didn't happen, his condition worsened and then he was caught on burglary. I don't think he hated jews or the US, even though he praised 9/11, his mind and physiology was just so deteriorated that he was trying to say bad towards anybody, even Kasparov. He was not mad, he was a good person who just had problems. You can see his old interviews, when he was on the show and how nice he was and when you compare that to his older interviews, you can realize what happened to him

Thanks for that, makes perfect sensethumbup.png

it is wrong to have a discussion if the person is not present. Correct me if I'm wrong because it is not nice to be "Left Out!" ESP in cold winter conditions could be fatal & Sycolligy Collage is better than Sickosikeatrick UnyVerCity Deen Prof proof BS no Bull

he was mad about chess people though he was mad normally but chess players know he was for chess he lives his life in chess he made his life chess

Masked_Titan3000

I think he was mad at the Soviets( aka modern-day Russian) for purposefully drawing the games in losing positions just to maintain the spot in the world championships. I saw this moment in pawn sacrifice. Do yall think it's true?

mandytiffany

Just remember him as a great chess player. He did have his problems. But what a player
