As much as I like Fischer and his chess, I think it's fair to put him behind the the tripple K's: Karpov, Kasparov, and Kramnik. At his peak Fischer was amazing but he simply didn't stay long enough to prove himself to be a great champion. As Kasparov said, Fischer was a great challenger but a disastrous champion. You have to defend your title at least once to prove yourself to be a great champion.
