they are close in ratings but kasparov is a lot better than 2700, he's 2851 and carlsen's 2882

Kasparov was great. Probably the GoAT for many years… Got to give credit where it s due. Magnus is the best player of all time. I d say no matter which era you put him he s going to be at the top.

Kasparov is the most goated player of all time and to this day, I don’t change my mind

both are the goats of their times

for comparing two goats we have to compare their dominance in the periods of their peaks respectively

If we see kasparov was more dominant in his peak

but on other sight he was in the non-computer era of chess so the game of the players in that period was different and a little weak

after the arrival of computers lot of changes are happened in opening literatures and some positional things like in that period players use to give lot value to pawn structures but now in computer era the importance is different because of this the competition has increased drastically in 2000's.

so in my opinion magnus the goat of chess

there are some comments that magnus is quite arrogant but I dont think like it I think what we think his arrogance is actually his high-level confidence of his skills.

If Kasparov grew in the same conditions as Magnus he would be the Number one chess player. Magnus Carlsen is best but in the modern days, everything is different. People never had this much elo because there is the internet and everyone can learn chess professionally with money nowadays in the old times learning chess was not easy because there were only books.

Morphy is the greatest ever. Carlsen is a close second and then there is some distance to travel before you find the third best.

Magnus Carlsen is the best

Generally, Carlsen is better due to advancements in bots allowing for better grade material that wasn't available at Kasparov's peak. Also, Carlsen is still very active at these times, but actually, I'm not very sure what would happen if peak Kasparov fought Peak Carlsen

"Bots" isn't the right word. Try "engines".

Arguably can be debated, as there weren't many super strong players when he was alive, like Carlsen or Kasparov. You have to consider the fact that he might not have been as strong as the youtube videos made him out to be, dont get me wrong, hes super strong, but it can be debated.

I get it but to me the most selling point about Morphy being the greatest is his unreal talent for those times. It's just insane how close his moves were to modern day engines.

The one who is able to win without assistance is the best.

Kasparov had an amazing tournament record but he played surprisingly low number of tournaments. Carlsen plays much much more number of tournaments compared to Gary and still got an amazing score. When you play less it's easier to maintain quality since you have time for preparation, but when someone is playing continuously and yet winning all without fail, I feel that's more impressive. Also Carlsen sometimes plays weird opening moves against his opponents like h5, a6 etc and yet manages to win. Gary on the other hand relied deeply on opening preparation. Magnus plays pure chess and doesn't rely on preparations to outclass his opponents. Also in World Championships Magnus lost lesser number of games. So for me Magnus. Sorry for the long answer. It's my first.
