Fischer is unworthy to represent our species for reasons other than Chess ability.
I'd pick Karpov actually because Karpov plays extremely defensive and could force the aliens into a stalemate, assuming Karpov can be trained and at his prime somehow. If not, then Carlsen would do.

fischer is not within the top 3 best tbh. greatest is something else, but even then, what he had was a good record and a fan following due to hype and government reasons. botvinnik, kasparov, magnus, anand, karpov, and such people were directly more involved in being more important. they didnt need media help and shaming of the opponent to make themselves great.
Fischer isn't even in the top 10!

thete's no such as the greatest chess player because all great players' strength from the past till now were/are relative the same,unless if one could beat the strongest super computesr that is hghly likely no humans can beat them
