I believe that Fischer surpassed all the former and currently living grandmasters in the ability to produce and process chess ideas. - Anatoly Karpov
Who is the Greatest Player Ever?

And so?Hmm during Kotov's time Kasparov is not yet a GM.
Kasparov is the greatest - GM Seirawan

So you are citing my Karpov quote and say it is wrong because Kasparov wasnt even a GM when in Kotovs times??? ;) i know what you mean but its still funny.

You are dealing w/ science fiction with this questions like this. Today's players have the advantage of all the analyzing that has been done since their time, a computerized society etc. Give Fischer or Morphy, or any of the earlier-day players that same equal background and see what will happen. It's of course impossible. Bingo!

I protest the conspicuous lack of Anglicity in this passage!
Definetly Bobby FIscher, he sticked to the same openings and still was unbeatable. Yeah it must be Fischer, who else can be so predictable but still unstoppable. It must be Fischer.
Ficher didn't always stick to the same opening.
Against 1.d4 Fischer mainly used either the KID or the Gruenfeld.
Against 1.e4, he would play mostly 1....c5, but also 1.....e5. Or even 1....Nf6, for variety.
Of course with the white pieces, we know he loved 1.e4. Although he played 1.c4 a couple times against Spassky.
