Every chess player has its own idol. Who is yours? Youngsters say its Gukesh Dommaraju while the senior players its Gary Kasparov and the majority which of course you know is Magnus Carlsen but many players love other GM’s, but these GM’s sometimes also have some mysteries. What happened to GM Ding Liren after the loss in the world championship in Singapore, we haven’t seen him in the spotlight for so long. What happened to him? There are even women GMs. Judit polgar who is the highest rated women but also lost to the highest rated men. Recently Divya Deshmukh won the women’s championship. I like Gukesh Dommaraju
I wouldn't say I have a "favourite player" since there are like 3-4 I admire almost equal, also there are a lot of really famous players I haven't studied that much so I can't really give an opinion. But if you ask me , I would say Paul Morphy. He was certainly ahead of his time and I found him really instructive and fascinating, perhaps the ultimate chess prodigy...
