he is good because of all the reasons mentioned above.

as far as the arrogant part, I humbly disagree. when I was introduced to him, I found him to be genuinely polite and he tends to smile a lot.

I attended a Hikaru lecture and simul a few years ago, and he was quite friendly and outgoing. But he has admitted that when he was younger, he was a lot more arrogant and confrontational, treating his fellow competitors more like enemies. He has mellowed and matured since then, but he still has that incredible talent

his older brother played chess his stepfather that was a fide master and chess author started coaching him when he was 7. its the combination of talent, proper teaching, willingness to learn and constantly having an opponent to play against when he was really young that has made him so good.
