Maurice Vachier-Lagavre, MVL for friends and anyone else, shows up in every major event and seems to be commented and spoken of much more often than other GM of similar rating. I like him and I actually don't know why. Never saw a brilliancy of his, and although he plays so well you can't say he's a winning machine. I do admit that I love his wits. But is that the ultimate reason? Can anyone think of other reasons why he's so beloved?
