It isnt enough that some class players can win more money today in something like the World Open than Spassky did for becoming world champion in 1969 ?!

In times of economical crisis I think the World Chess Championship should be held less frequently. Even if Carlsen was the challenger I still doubt there would be any bid for the 2012 World Championship. My estimation is that there will be a postponement for next year due to lack of funding.
