Very sorry for the delay. Between my last post and now, a tree fell on our house (the 2nd time in half a year) which was just before I moved from Ohio to Virginia. I'm almost finally settled down in Virginia (with internet service and a working mouse).happy.png

No problem at all, glad all is well. Take all the time you need in our game, leave it until last, I won't be putting time pressure on you.

Marks, I think your conditional move has a minor typo. The destination is legal so I'll let Tug decide if he wants to play it, play a different move, or wait to you to correct it.

I think its correct. Chancellor on the left behind the hawk, no?

Avatar of captaintugwash

It seems right to me, C0(4,-1) is the notation I would use but his notation works too. If I were to play Nx(3,5), he can't capture the knight without exposing his hawk to my queen, so he's protecting the hawk and challenging my queen.

My mistake. Marks' move including the conditional move is fine. I saw the black chancellor on file-1 but that has nothing to do with it. The conditional move is by White. Sorry😢

So last diagram is still valid, and Marks conditional move is valid:
If ...Nx(3,5), 26.C(0,-1)-(4,-1)

After all that clarification I'm not grabbing the pawn. You would definitely get compensation for it, I don't think I can allow the (4,5) pawn push, not yet anyway.
