Event Chess Game (notgoodatch3ss - bilalabdallah)

Martin0

This is an event chess game between @notgoodatch3ss (white) and @bilalabdallah (black).

Rules:

This game will follow the correspondence rules posted here.

Time Control: 3 days/move

Timeout Warnings: 24 hours to make a move after a warning. Maximum 3 warnings. Refreshes every 40th move

Vacation Time: 14 days. Refreshes every 40th move.

Game starts like a normal chess game with 2 additional rules:

  1. Each player may once/game start an event during his turn before making a move (Just say "start event").
  2. A player may not capture more than 2 pieces that are not pawns before starting an event (This is to make sure both players need to start an event).

Note that each player starting one event means a game will become a combination of 2 events.

When an event starts it will be chosen randomly from over 100 events and consists of some sort of rule changes to the game. More about event chess can be read here.

Good luck!

Event #45 Ambulance

Rooks becomes ambulances in addition to being rooks.

Whenever a piece becomes captured, the captured piece will become badly injured (but still removed from the board). An injured piece can be picked up by an allied rook on the turn after it was captured. To pick up an injured piece, the rook needs to move to either the same square or an adjacent square of where the captured piece was standing. The injured piece will be put on top of the rook. If the injured piece is not picked up on the turn after the capture, the opportunity is lost and the piece is dead.

An injured piece on top of a rook can not move. When the rook moves the piece on top will remain on top of the rook. If a rook with an injured piece moves to the 1st rank (8th rank for black), then the injury will be healed and the piece should be put on an empty square adjacent to the rook.

Rooks can not pick up rooks or royal pieces (kings).

Rooks can not pick up another piece if it already has a piece on top of it.

Rooks can not pick up pieces when performing castling.

If a rook picks up a piece on the first rank, it still needs to make another move to a square on the first rank to heal the piece.

If a rook with an injured piece gets captured, then the injured piece is also captured. The injured piece can be picked up by another rook on the next turn.

Pawns on the 1st or 2nd rank can move up to 2 spaces forward regardless if they have previously moved or not.

Example 1:

Black plays fxe4.

Whites pawn becomes badly injured (but still removed from the board). On whites next move, if whites rook can reach either the same square as where his pawn was standing (e4) or on an adjacent square (d3,e3,f3,d4,f4,d5,e5 and f5), then white can pick up his injured pawn (the squares marked in red above).

White plays Rd5 and picks up his injured pawn.

Example 2:

Whites rook has an injured pawn on top of it. The injured pawn can not move. White plays Rd1

Whites move is not over yet. Since whites rook moved to a square on the first rank, the pawn becomes healed and must be put on an empty square adjacent to whites rook. Since e1 is occupied the options are c1, c2, d2 and e2. White chooses to put his pawn on c1.

Since whites pawn is healed it can move normally for the rest of the game. On the 1st or 2nd rank it can move up to 2 squares forward.

Example 3:

Black plays exd4

Whites pawn is badly injured. If whites rook get to c3, d3, e3, c4, d4, e4, c5, d5 or e5 on the next move he can pick up the injured pawn. White plays Nxd4.

White lost his opportunity to pick up the injured pawn, so whites pawn is now dead. Now black has an injured pawn that will die if it is not picked up on the next turn. Black plays Nxd4.

Blacks pawn is dead. Whites knight becomes badly injured and can be picked up on c3, d3, e3, c4, d4, e4, c5, d5 or e5 next move. White plays Rxd4 and picks up his injured knight.

Black plays Rc5 and picks up his injured knight.

Are the rules clear? This is one of the more complicated events. I would be happy to get feedback on this event after the game.

Makes almost perfect sense to me. Just one thing to clarify:

"If a rook picks up a piece on the first rank, it still needs to move to a new square on the first rank to heal the piece." Can the rook move away from the first rank, then return to the same square it picked the piece up from?

The rook can move away from the first rank and then return to the same square where it picked up the piece to heal it. I will reword this to make it more clear.
