It's not checkmate though. If white gets a knight to look at the king, the king can not be checked/checkmated.

The knight being in check does not matter. That was the case in example 8 where I explained the rules as well.

Nd2 and start looking towards e3.
Ne2 and start looking towards e3.
Nf3 and start looking towards e3.
Nh3 and start looking towards e3.
Ng1 (stand still) and start looking towards e3.
It is stated in the rules that they can change direction any time they move and it is shown in example 1.
I thought I made the rules clear when I provided those examples...
