How to play at the variants in chess.com app?

Hi, I was wondering if it's possible to play chess.com variants (like crazyhouse, ...) on the app or if these variants are only available on the app? 😁

There be a couple of app sub-pages that load in an embedded browser that can work, but not very well. However, it's still a browser instance.

Click tournaments, then go to daily. Click, upcoming arena tournaments, and then click on one. Then press new game, and for some reason, u can play variants!

That loads an embedded browser (app encapsulates a browser instance). It's much better to just load the website and less prone to being buggy in that case

Yeah, IK! The page is bad, but it’s better than not being able to play if u don’t have a web browser!
But that 405? 502? 500? Can stop you.

People are wrong lol. There is a way, you just have to go to the leagues tab and click someone, then click play and change the variant from there and you can do other things there as if it is the web version lol. Doesn't matter who you click, and remember to change it from them to random if you want. Also I know leagues are kind of broken rn, so just change the league ur viewing to an older one and click someone from there instead. Have fun with this haha

That's loading an embedded browser in the app and is prone to be buggy (also not a supported method of playing). It's better to just load a browser to play instead.

Indeed, there is a method to change game settings in the leagues tab; simply click on a player, then select 'play' and adjust the variant from that point, similar to the web version. Remember, it doesn't matter which player you choose, and you can switch from them to 'random' as needed. Also, if leagues are currently experiencing issues, try switching to an older league and selecting a player from there. Enjoy exploring these features!
